Ocean View Cottage is just minutes from the fantastic Tanger Outlet Center featuring great prices at JCrew, GAP, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Nine West, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sunglasses Hut and more. Other specialty shops - art galleries, antiques, beach clothing and more - are just a short drive away in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Roanoke Island.

One of our favorites is the Yellow House print gallery (Beach Road MP 11). Even if you're not in the market for antique prints, stop by and say hello to "Uncle Jack" and Susan. Two more of our favorites businesses are just around the corner. One is Cahoon's Variety, located less than two miles from Ocean View Cottage (Beach Road, MP 16½). They have it all, from beach supplies and fishing tackle to The New York Times and fine wine. And just around the corner is the Whalebone Junction Fish Market (Highway, MP 16½), home to the freshest seafood in town.

Need a break from cooking? No worry, the Outer Banks is full of fine and casual dining establishments. Sam and Omie's is our favorite, not just because it's nearby (Beach Road, Milepost 16½) but because of the casual atmosphere, good food and reasonable prices. Other favorites include the Weeping Radish in Manteo, Taiko Sushi (Highway, MP14), Owens Restaurant and Elizabeth's Café and Winery in Duck.
