If you love the great outdoors, Nags Head is your kind of place. Fishing, birding, golf and a wide
range of water sports are just a short drive away, making Ocean View Cottage your ideal vacation destination.
Fishing The Outer Banks is a top destination for anglers
and is referred to as the billfish capital of the world. Charter boats for offshore fishing are available for hire at the nearby Oregon Inlet and the Pirate's Cove Club in Manteo. In addition to offshore fishing, you can surf fish or cast your line off one of the many nearby piers (the Outer Banks Pier and
Fishing Center is within walking distance of Ocean View Cottage). You can even fly fish! Click here for more information on what's available.
Birding Thanks to its unique ecology of ocean, marshes,
sandy beaches, coastal sounds, swamps and forests the Outer Banks is a haven for nearly 400 species of birds. Because Ocean View Cottage borders the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, we are close to prime birding habitats. Be sure to visit the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge, Bodie Island Trails and the Nags Head Woods. Pelagic tours are also available from Oregon Inlet.
Golfing For some, a vacation's not complete without a trip to the links. A number of fine
courses are nearby, including the Scottish-style Nags Head Golf Links and the championship course of Sea Scape Golf Links. The summertime is busy, so make sure
to book your tee times well in advance. Click here for more nearby golf courses and here for miniature golf courses for the kids (and kids at heart).
Watersports Kayaking, canoeing, sailing, boating, diving, waterskiing, surfing, parasailing,
windsurfing...the list of things to do on the water in Nags Head and the Outer Banks is a long one. There are many places nearby that can rent you the gear, and provide
some guidance, for any number of these activities. Click here for a complete list of activities and companies that specialize in them.
